Your suffering doesn't define you
Posted on November 5th, 2017
Few learnings during the last weekend and this is the second one:
Your suffering doesn't define you.
In the past, when someone said to me for example "why are you so not self confident" I have had the following stages of response:
- What did they say? I don't understand a word of their babble.
- Oh yea I heard it a lot so what can I do about it, stop nagging!
- Why does everyone keep on telling me this?! Wtf is wrong with them!?
- I think they're right. What's wrong with me?
- Yes I'm not confident because I've been neglected and my parents said this and that when I was little and I'm working on it and you should understand it and support me!
And these were the stages untill now. I've spent most years in stages 3 and 5. And now I'm getting to the stage 6:
Thank you for your feedback, seems I still need to work on it. How's your weekend been?
Just see through the suffering you've been through. Till now all the stages were focused on the suffering. From now on I'm moving on. I'm much more than this. I'm much more than what I'm not. To see that requires time and effort, but I'll get there.
